Our Forest Pre-Schools & Nursery

About the Forest Pre-Schools and Nursery

Here at the Outdoor Learning Company we are lucky enough to run three Forest Pre-Schools. Inspired by the Forest School approach to learning, your child will have a unique experience being immersed in nature, using tools and exploring the woodland throughout the seasons.

Using carefully selected woodlands we have managed to create natural wonderlands where children can submerge themselves in creativity, imagination, and exploration. Some of the woodland’s highlights include:

The tool area-

Whether it be the self-access tool area where children can tinker with tools such as the hammer and nails or the adult supported area where children can use bow saws, drills, bush craft knives (to name a few) to fuel their creativity.

The Fire Pit-

There is nothing better than a campfire and we have lots of them. From cooking marshmallows to porridge or making bread to popping corn we spend a lot of time around this social area. We can cater for all dietary requirements so no child will miss out, for example vegan marshmallows or gluten free bread. The children will learn to build fires and even light them with a fire steel.

Mud Pit & Mud Kitchen-

Mud, mud, mud and even more mud. Some children just cannot get enough. With a dedicated mud pit and large mud kitchen your child could be as happy as a hippo.

Bell Tent-

For those days where children would like a little shelter from the outside, we have a kitted-out bell tent with heating. There are toys and books to help the children relax in this quieter space.

Bug hunting area-

We would not be a Forest School if we did not have plenty of bug hunting resources. We love to discover what friends share our woodlands through out the year and learn about how we can keep them safe when sharing our woodland.

Small build and Big Build-

If you have a young budding architect or builder in your family then the Forest Pre-School will help feed the thirst for this passion. From building dens to bucket pully systems we have seen it all. There is no lack of resources for our budding engineers as they are free to create what they like.

Imagination and Role play-

Children can get lost in their play within the magical woodland, with natural resources to be used as props, plenty of nooks and hide-a-ways to create castles, shops, caves and anything else their imagination desires.

The ever-changing woodland-

As well as some of the favourites mentioned above our woodlands and activities are always changing in tune with the seasons and children attending. We follow the childrens interests and develop our sites accordingly.
